Maritime Assistance
Maritime assistance for shipowners
Ever since the early 1920's Royal Dirkzwager is active as an agency in the Rotterdam port area, historically specialized in the field of maritime contracting, such as towage, salvage and dredging.
Every ship entering or preparing to leave the port needs a local representative to arrange it's business with the port authorities such as customs / immigration and the harbour master's office. This so called `clearing' of the vessel is arranged by the captain's room of the agency in question. Apart from that, pilots, tugs and boatmen have to be notified and ordered to guarantee a safe and smooth arrival or departure. While in port, suppliers of bunkers, fresh water and provisions and providers of other services must be informed in order to facilitate the daily management and operation of the vessel and needs of the crew.
