The COSCO (Nantong) Shipyard Group Co. Ltd. has constructed a new wind turbine installation vessel for the Danish offshore wind installation specialist A2SEA. The "SEA INSTALLER" will is a jack-up vessel optimized to operate at water depths of up to 45 meters and it will therefore be well fitted for the installation of upcoming offshore wind projects in the UK as well as in other offshore wind markets. The vessel is built for operations in tidal areas and difficult soil conditions and will be able to carry eight to ten complete wind turbines at a time. This is significantly more than the capacity of the vessels which are currently available in the market. The Noble Globetrotter II is a new, dynamically positioned, ultra-deepwater Globetrotter-class drillship now being built at South Korean STX Heavy Industries Co., LTD. Designed and construction by Huisman Equipment B.V. in Schiedam, Holland.The Noble Globetrotter II drillship is the second unit that will be developed for the Company by implementing a two phase process. The hull is to be built by STX at its state-of-the-art facility in Dalian, China. The unit will then be shipped to the Netherlands for Huisman to oversee the installation and commissioning of the topside equipment.Operations are due to begin on the second unit in the second half of 2013, and on the first Noble Globetrotter in late 2011. Sea Princess (formerly Adonia) is a Sun-class cruise ship operated by the Princess Cruises Line. She has three sister ships: Sun Princess and Dawn Princess in the Princess Cruises fleet and Oceana (formerly Ocean Princess) in the P&O Cruises fleet. The vessel was delivered to Princess Cruises from the shipbuilders of Fincantieri in Trieste, Italy and began operation in 1998, under the name Sea Princess. On April 24th 2013 Royal Dirkzwager of the Netherlands and VisSim AS of Norway signed a Memorandum of Understanding underlining their intention to create a long-term partnership in the field of Remote Offshore Asset Monitoring, ROAM©. The two companies have a long-standing reputation in their respective fields: VisSim AS is a strong international provider of vessel traffic monitoring hardware and software solutions for the Offshore Oil & Gas, Offshore Wind Industry as well as ports and coastal surveillance sector. Royal Dirkzwager has built up a reputation in Offshore VTS monitoring and information services and ICT support for the maritime sector. Zijn contract is onlangs al weer met twee jaar verlengd en daarmee behoort Hette van Popta tot slechts 0,4 procent van de Nederlandse bevolking die na de 65ste verjaardag nog minstens gemiddeld 12 uur per week doorwerkt (cijfers CBS). Zijn huidige werk bestaat uit twee sectoren. Het veilig geleiden van zeeschepen op zee (voornamelijk het Noordzeegebied, het Kanaal en de Ierse Zee) en met het VTS-systeem (Vessel Traffic Services) in de gaten houden of allerlei soorten vaartuigen niet te dicht in de buurt van dynamische en vaste installaties bij de olie- en gaswinning op zee komen. Begin februari mocht Pieter Bloemendaal, Managing Director van Koninklijke Dirkzwager, het eerste exemplaar van het boek ‘Mooie schepen en banen’ in ontvangst nemen van een van de auteurs, Cees de Keijzer. Dit boek, de derde uit een serie, wordt gesponsord door de World Ship Society Rotterdam Branch, een partner van Koninklijke Dirkzwager. In dit boek worden 86 schepen beschreven met hun eigen verhaal, alsmede 16 banen van mensen op de werkvloer uit de dagelijkse havenpraktijk. Van een vrouwelijke procesengineer tot een pijpleidingoperator en schepen in een grote diversiteit. De kleinste daarvan, 25 meter lang, is een stoomsleper, de grootste een containerschip van 398 meter. Dat betreft de lengte maar als het gaat om het draagvermogen dan is dat een supertanker van 319.324 ton die, vol beladen met het overgrote deel onder water, net zo diep steekt als De Bijenkorf op de Coolsingel hoog is. De functie: Als Noordzee loods wordt u de specialist op het gebied van de nautische bekendheid op de Noordzee, het Engelse Kanaal, de Ierse Zee en het Skagerrak. U adviseert daarbij de kapitein en het bridge team bij de veilige navigatie van het schip door een van de drukste zeeën ter wereld en communiceert met de plaatselijke VTS-stations en loodsposten. Naast Noordzee Loods wordt u ook ingezet als VTS- Operator Offshore. Als VTS - Operator Offshore zorgt u voor een optimale en efficiënte afwikkeling van het scheepvaartverkeer rondom een bepaald schip of platform in de Offshore industrie. U observeert het verkeersbeeld door middel van Radar / Arpa, marifonie en overige moderne navigatie apparatuur en werkt daarbij zeer nauw samen met guard-vessels ter plaatse.
